Cameron & Kyle: 4 months

Late again, but I'm going to catch up anyway!

Another month older! I can't believe it's going by so fast, but at the same time it seems like we've been in the baby stage forever. These two little boys keep me tired, happy and on my toes. Here's some things about them at 4 months that I want to remember:

Cameron's stats at 4 months:

Weight: 13 lb 11 oz - 15th percentile
Height: 24"- 8th percentile
Head size: 40 cm - 8th percentile

He's my tiny guy!! He's getting more and more fun lately!

  • He wears size 2 diapers, barely fits into size 3-6 month clothes, and his feet are probably still smaller than a 1.
  • He nurses every 3 hours or so during the day, and 1 or 2 times at night.
  • He takes 2 sometimes 3 naps a day, and is starting to sleep better at night. Still working on that one!
  • He sleeps in the swing, but we're trying to wean him off it slowly.
  • Loves bath time
  • Getting better at tummy time, and occasionally rolls from front to back.
  • It's not so easy to make him smile
  • loves to talk and make noises, but is very quiet when talking, which is funny because he's SO LOUD when he cries!
  • Loves to jump in either the doorway jumper or the floor jumper
  • Loves to stand
  • tries to sit when you hold his hands
  • loves to eat his hands, and anything he can get his hands on
  • he still loves the binky
  • He takes a bottle really well, and sometimes pukes less when he's had a bottle.
  • Loves to hold soft toys, and minky blankets, especially when he's tired.
  • He's starting to play with toys more and more.
  • Starting to kick his feet when he gets excited more and more.
  • He will giggle when you tickle his neck.
  • He likes to play with Ellie and loves to watch her.
  • He gets fussy easily, and sometimes he can be hard to calm down. We're still trying to figure him out.
  • He sort of acts like he might be getting some teeth, but nothing yet.

Kyle's stats at 4 months:

Weight: 15 lb 11.5 oz - 55th percentile
Height: 24" (I think more like 24 1/2") - 21st percentile
Head size: 42 cm - 61st percentile

Kyle's a big boy, and seems even bigger when he's next to Cameron!

  • He wears size 3 diapers, 3-6 month clothes, but his feet are probably size 1.
  • He nurses every 3 hours during the day and 1 or no times at night.
  • He takes 2 or 3 naps a day, and has been sleeping through the night more lately. Even in the crib!
  • He's a lot more aware of toys, people and things lately..
  • He does NOT like it when you set him down and leave the room! He gets a big fat pouty lip and cries a ton.
  • He loves to kick when he's excited and when he's playing
  • he also loves to jump in the doorway jumper or the floor jumper
  • He still hates binkies most of the time, but sometimes when he's really tired, he'll take one to fall asleep
  • He giggles when you tickle his neck and belly
  • He LOVES to talk and eat his hands. Mostly at the same time.
  • He loves to watch people. Especially Ellie. And Ellie is always happy to play with him.
  • He goes to bed pretty easily, and is really the easiest baby on the planet. Only cries when he's hungry, needs a diaper change, or tired. It's awesome.
  • He smiles at ANYTHING and EVERYONE. Seriously, this kid is a little grinner. It's adorable!
  • HE LOVES taking baths, and loves kicking and splashing his feet in the tub.
  • He favors his right side, so we have to kind of force him to look left sometimes.
  • He can roll from tummy to back, but still hates tummy time
I'm sure I'm probably missing some other details about the boys, but this is what I can think of right now.

These little guys bring us so much joy! And YES my hands are full, but so is my heart!

Cameron & Kyle: 3 months old

January's over (thank goodness) and that means Cameron and Kyle are one month older!

Cameron:

  • LOVES it when mommy sings the itsy bitsy spider to him and does the hand motions
  • still pukes buckets, but is happier about it than he used to be
  • he's wearing size 1 diapers, size 0-3 month clothes and is still a little squirt
  • he's no longer taking Prevacid, OR Zantac! Woohoo! He's not too bad without them, either!
  • He's starting to "talk" and coo so much and he LOVES it when we talk to him or make faces at him
  • He takes about 3 naps a day, and wakes up once at night to eat.
  • On a good night he sleeps from about 9-2 or 3, then again until 6 or 7.
  • He nurses about every 3 hours during the day, and once at night. He's a guzzler, and I have to stop him every 5 or so minutes so he can burp, otherwise everything he just ate comes right back up!
  • Tummy time is not his favorite, but we try to have him do it anyway.
  • He LOVES sitting in the bumbo!
  • He also loves playing in the bouncy seat and watching the bubbles and lights move.
  • He generally loves to suck on a binky and takes the gumdrop or nuk kind
  • He likes being held, but only in certain ways, and he's not super cuddly
  • Being outside is probably his favorite thing ever.

Kyle:

  • is such a little smiler! He will smile and coo at you all. day. long! We love it!
  • He hates tummy time. Like REALLY hates it. Working on that...
  • He's a little chunker, and he's growing out of some 0-3 month clothes, but still fits in a lot. He wears size 2 diapers.
  • He likes to nurse more often than Cameron during the day, and sometimes eats every 2 hours, however he sleeps MUCH longer at night, like usually from 9-4 or 5, then again until 7 or 8.
  • He also takes 3 naps a day.
  • He talks a lot and loves to look at everything and anything
  • He follows us when we walk across the room and gets SUPER sad if we walk by him and don't pick him up.
  • He's a little softie and gets his feelings hurt easily
  • He has super sensitive skin, and we've found we can only use a really expensive organic baby wash on him.
  • he HATES binkies, but sometimes when he just won't go to sleep I can force one on him and it gives him that extra push to get to his sleepy place
Updates:

  • Now that it's two weeks later, C man is sleeping longer at night!!
  • Kyle takes a latex Nuk binky selectively
  • Kyle can roll from front to back
  • Tummy time is better for both boys
  • Cameron does better with pumped milk since it doesn't drown him
  • They both love the jumper
  • Cameron loves to be outside
  • Kyle doesn't fit in 0-3 much at all anymore
I'll update more with pictures soon!!

And probably more things I remember!

    Ellie 6 months!!

So much has happened in the past 6 months! I cannot believe how much our little baby Ellie has grown!

    Just born

    One Month Old

    Two Months Old

    Three Months Old

    Four Months Old

    Five Months Old

    Six Months Old

She's such a cute, smart, happy little girl and we love her so so much!

She learned so much between months 5 and 6! She started solids just after she turned 5 months & has done wonderfully with them. She started sitting all by herself about a week after she turned 5 months old and has wanted to crawl ever since.

Because we're in New York, we opted to not have a six month check-up here, but to do in when we get back to Utah in August. However, we did some measuring of our own, and she's currently about 15 lbs, 25 1/2 inches long, and her head is 16 1/4 inches. After plugging the numbers into an online growth chart, this is what it concludes about her:

    Length = between percentile 25 and 50
    Weight = between percentile 10 and 25
Head Circumference = in percentile 10

She's still on the small side (with a TINY head) but she's a strong little girl! She loves to stand, and can do so if you just hold your hands out for her to grab. She'll pull herself right up!

She's still wearing some 3-6 month clothes, but most of them are getting to be too small. We moved her up to size 3 diapers, and while they seem kinda huge right now, the size 2's were seeming too little to buy another big box of and have her only wear them for a couple weeks.

More about Ellie at 6 months:
    • She likes to play Peek-a-boo & the How big is Ellie game
    • She's started saying (more like whispering) things like "wa wa wa" "ba" & gooing and gahing
    • She loves sweet potatoes, green beans, applesauce, bananas and squash. She'll tolerate peaches, carrots and oatmeal & rice cereal but they aren't her favorite.
    • She's entering that "stranger danger" phase, and has a hard time going to strangers.
    • She sleeps through the night on occasion, but usually wakes up anywhere from 1-3 for a feeding and then goes back to sleep until about 7.
    • She's good at playing with toys and just hanging out when I need to get things done, which is very nice.
    • She finally figured out that she can sleep on her belly when she rolls over in the middle of the night, and doesn't scream when she ends up on her belly anymore.
    • She's not too sure about the Skype people I make her talk to and watch, but she seems to enjoy listening to the voices that come out of the computer.
    • She learned how to put the binky back in her mouth and loves to play with it
    • She's STILL teething, and she's been quite fussy for the past few days. Maybe this means she'll cut a tooth and relax soon?
    • She loves to blow raspberries & spit ALLLL the time, especially if she's getting frustrated!
I can't think of much else to say! We just had a spectacular weekend over her half birthday in DC, and my awesome cousin Melanie took these ADORABLE pictures of Ellie. I mean seriously, is she not the cutest baby you've ever seen??

Our little Ellie is quite the diva, and we LOVE her so much! She's pretty much the best decision we ever made, beside the whole getting married part ;)

p.s. Ellie's got eczema on her neck & chest...anyone know a good way to get rid of it? It showed up a couple weeks after being here in humid NY...

    FOUR MONTHS ALREADY?

So, I started this post a while ago, but I never took the time to finish it! Life has been crazy and we're kindof in a limbo situation right now. Ellie and I are living with my mom and dad and David is in Provo living with his sister so he can keep working at BYU. He is working 4 week days, then comes to Roosevelt on the weekend. It's crazy, and we are still waiting to hear back from KAPL about David's security clearance, so we don't even know for sure when we're leaving to NY!

Anyway, Ellie's growing up so fast! She turned 4 months old on May 1st and she's such a joy to have around! She loves to just jibber jabber and tell stories ALLLLL the time! It's so fun. She stopped sleeping through the night, which is totally crappy, but she's still a happy baby MOST of the time. She has her bad days every once in a while.

I took her for her 4-month check-up on May 6th and she is growing well! As of that day, she was 13 1/2 lbs and 24 3/4 inches tall. Her height is in the 66th percentile, weight in about the 40th, and her head is still small in the 23rd percentile. She had to get 2 shots, which upset her a lot, but not as much as the first time she got them. The dr. noticed that she has two little bumps on her lower gums, so she could be getting some teeth soon.

Things about her at 4 months old:
    • she drools a ton!
    • eats every 3 1/2-4 hours
    • she wears size 1-2 diapers, but they're getting a bit small because she's chunky :)
    • tolerates tummy time longer than before
    • looks at you when you say her name
    • smiles a lot, and occasionally laughs at the silly things
    • loves to play with her giraffe toy
    • hates to be left alone in a room
    • still loves to be talked to and loves when we sing to her
    • LOVES to be outside
    • loves to sit in the swing
    • loves to sit on my lap while I swing
Ellie's just getting cuter and cuter as the days go on! Her little bald spot she rubbed on the back of her head is finally filling in, which makes me happy, BUT to the naked eye it still looks bald because her new hair is growing in WHITE BLONDE!! Who ever thought that I'd have a bright white blonde little baby girl? Not me! She definitely gets that one from her daddy! She's getting more and more fun as she grows up, but it makes me sad that she's growing up so quickly. If only time could slow down!

Well, I can't think of much else to say right now. I'm getting pretty terrible at this blogging thing. Maybe I'll get better at it once I have a better routine and my own place to live! Life is so crazy right now, and I will be MUCH happier when we finally make it to NY and settle down for at least a couple months!

Hope everyone's doing well, and I'll hopefully have another post soon!

    shoes!

    3 months old!

Ellie turned 3 months old on April Fool's day, but it was no joke! It's crazy how quickly she's growing up and how much she changes day-to-day. I wish she could be little forever, but I know she'll just get more fun as time goes on. She's starting to do more and more fun things, and I love to see her grow and progress!!

Here are some notable things about Ellie at 3 months:
    • She loves to eat her hands still, and sometimes she'll even try to suck on her binky AND her fingers. It's pretty hilarious to watch.
    • She's gotten to the point where she actually likes tummy time and can really lift her head and upper body.
    • She still really loves bath time and is learning that if she kicks her legs, water goes all over.
    • She LOVES to talk to us and it's almost like she's having a conversation with us.
    • She doesn't like the sound of the vacuum. It scares her and makes her cry a lot.
    • She is getting to the point where she likes to sit in the swing, but it's still not her favorite.
    • She doesn't like to be left in a room alone for more than 5 seconds, and she'll let you know it, too!
    • She is still wearing 0-3 clothes and size 1-2 diapers.
    • She weighs about 12 lbs 2 oz and is 23 ish inches long.
    • She laughed for the first time on April 1st right before I left for work, and it gave me something happy to think about as I had to leave her with her sitter for the afternoon.
    • She rolled over for the first time while we were getting her 3 month pictures taken, and she was VERY confused as to what had happened.
    • She is SUCH a mommy's girl, and is always SO happy when I get home from work, and almost always demands that I nurse her the second I get home, regardless of when she ate last.
    • She still loves to snuggle and falls asleep easily in our arms when she's tired.
    • She doesn't like to lie down on anyone's lap, and if she has a hold of your hands, she tries to pull herself into a sitting position. She also REALLY likes to stand and bounce.
    • When she's fussy in the car, all I have to do is start singing, and she'll instantly calm down and sleep.
I am sad to report that the lovely nights are gone, and we're back to the early days when Ellie didn't sleep through the night. She was being such a perfect little girl until just after the 3 month mark. She decided that she doesn't want to sleep through the night anymore, and that made me very very sad. Instead, she thinks that waking up every 2-3 hours during the night is much better, and fun! I kind of HATE how she's such a happy little girl at 3 a.m. and wants nothing more but to smile and coo at me. But at the same time, it's so hard to be mad that you're awake when you get to witness such sweetness from her. I guess I should have known that she wouldn't sleep through the night forever! I am thankful, however that she let me sleep all night for so long!

Ellie's such a cutie pie and we love to have her around! Funny thing about Ellie as of late...she has taken to mimicking us pretty well, and it is pretty awesome. About 3 weeks ago I started making faces at her including making noise while poking my tongue in and out of my mouth, well about 1 week ago, she discovered her tongue! She LOVES to stick her tongue out and thinks it's the funniest thing!

    Exhibit A:
While getting her 3 month pictures taken, she stuck her little tongue out, and they caught it before she stuck it back in. I think it's the cutest thing ever, and she makes me laugh so much with the faces she pulls!

I'm so thankful to have this little sweet pea in my life and I love her SO so much! I honestly don't know what I'd do without her! She's the best and David and I can't imagine not having her in our lives.

    Healthy baby!

I took Ellie to the pediatrician today to get a check on her weight and length. All morning I was hoping that she had gained enough weight and stressed about what our future would be if she didn't. I really don't want to have to formula feed--but I knew if it was what's best for her, I'd do it anyway. The good news is that I don't have to worry about that! Our little girl is doing just fine and has gained 5 1/2 ounces in 5 days! Woohoo! She's now 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long. Go her! She's still small percentile-wise, but hey...she's just a petite little girl!

I have been feeling so very blessed to have such a cute and fun little baby girl in our lives. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to be a mother! Nothing could ever bring me more joy and I love her so much!!
