Ellie 5 months

Life has been SO CRAZY with the move to NY and all that I haven't taken much time to write things down that Ellie's been doing! :(

But let's dwell on the positive here, and celebrate Ellie turning 5 months old! She's almost been with us for half a year! That realization is INSANE to me!

On her 5 month birthday (June 1st), we "officially" moved in to our little apartment in NY. We live in Waterford which is very close to Clifton Park which is in the Capital Region of NY. We also went out to dinner that night at a place called Arizona Pizza Company, and it was quite delicious!

Ellie is growing like a weed and learning SO many new things. Between 4 and 5 months, Ellie learned to roll over to her back from her belly and from her back to her belly. Here she is right before she rolled over:

Ellie and I were living at my mom and dad's house almost the entire month of May and Ellie had lots and lots of fun with her cousins, specifically Jas and Tab's little girls, Hailey and Bridgette. They came over nearly every day and Hailey always wanted to help me give Ellie a bath and Bridgette tried to help out as well. It was fun! :D
This is Hailey Bug and Ellie:

Before we left for NY, I wanted the opportunity to go up to the beautiful mountains! This was the closest thing to "camping" Ellie has ever done. It was a lot of fun and we had a blast. We had a tasty picnic and had fun visiting and playing games.

While Ellie and I were living in Roosevelt, her sleep habits deteriorated even more (if that's possible) from what they were when we lived in Provo. I decided to do something about that and bought the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" and it is a super great book. However, due to our unique situation of Ellie and I sharing a room and David only being there on the weekends, we didn't have a lot of success getting her to sleep better, yet. But, we DID get Ellie set on was a schedule of when to go to sleep and I had her in bed by 7:45 most nights. It was very nice!

Here are some random Ellie facts at 5 months old:

  • Ellie wears 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers
  • She nurses every 3-4 hours during the day
  • She's working on getting her first tooth (we can see it STARTING to poke up)
  • She generally hates sitting in the bumbo chair, but will tolerate it for short periods of time anyway
  • She LOVES to go outside and loves to ride in the stroller
  • She laughs and laughs when her daddy plays with her (but she seldom laughs for me)
  • She loves the books "Goodnight Moon" & "The Colorful Mouse"
  • She loves to play "Pat-a-cake" and "how big is Ellie"
  • She loves putting her fingers into my mouth and exploring my face
  • She loves bath time and LOVES to splash
  • She enjoys hearing animal sounds, and gets most excited about what a duck says
  • She has a super ticklish neck and belly
  • She goes to bed around 8-8:30 and sleeps until 7 or 7:30 and wakes up about 2 times during the night
I'm sure there's MUCH MUCH more I could write about my little sweet pea and how she's growing up SO fast, but I will leave it at this for now. Every day with her is such a blessing, and I am so happy to be her mommy and to be able to stay home with her and play with her all day and every day!

FOUR MONTHS ALREADY?

So, I started this post a while ago, but I never took the time to finish it! Life has been crazy and we're kindof in a limbo situation right now. Ellie and I are living with my mom and dad and David is in Provo living with his sister so he can keep working at BYU. He is working 4 week days, then comes to Roosevelt on the weekend. It's crazy, and we are still waiting to hear back from KAPL about David's security clearance, so we don't even know for sure when we're leaving to NY!

Anyway, Ellie's growing up so fast! She turned 4 months old on May 1st and she's such a joy to have around! She loves to just jibber jabber and tell stories ALLLLL the time! It's so fun. She stopped sleeping through the night, which is totally crappy, but she's still a happy baby MOST of the time. She has her bad days every once in a while.

I took her for her 4-month check-up on May 6th and she is growing well! As of that day, she was 13 1/2 lbs and 24 3/4 inches tall. Her height is in the 66th percentile, weight in about the 40th, and her head is still small in the 23rd percentile. She had to get 2 shots, which upset her a lot, but not as much as the first time she got them. The dr. noticed that she has two little bumps on her lower gums, so she could be getting some teeth soon.

Things about her at 4 months old:
  • she drools a ton!
  • eats every 3 1/2-4 hours
  • she wears size 1-2 diapers, but they're getting a bit small because she's chunky :)
  • tolerates tummy time longer than before
  • looks at you when you say her name
  • smiles a lot, and occasionally laughs at the silly things
  • loves to play with her giraffe toy
  • hates to be left alone in a room
  • still loves to be talked to and loves when we sing to her
  • LOVES to be outside
  • loves to sit in the swing
  • loves to sit on my lap while I swing
Ellie's just getting cuter and cuter as the days go on! Her little bald spot she rubbed on the back of her head is finally filling in, which makes me happy, BUT to the naked eye it still looks bald because her new hair is growing in WHITE BLONDE!! Who ever thought that I'd have a bright white blonde little baby girl? Not me! She definitely gets that one from her daddy! She's getting more and more fun as she grows up, but it makes me sad that she's growing up so quickly. If only time could slow down!

Well, I can't think of much else to say right now. I'm getting pretty terrible at this blogging thing. Maybe I'll get better at it once I have a better routine and my own place to live! Life is so crazy right now, and I will be MUCH happier when we finally make it to NY and settle down for at least a couple months!

Hope everyone's doing well, and I'll hopefully have another post soon!

3 months old!

Ellie turned 3 months old on April Fool's day, but it was no joke! It's crazy how quickly she's growing up and how much she changes day-to-day. I wish she could be little forever, but I know she'll just get more fun as time goes on. She's starting to do more and more fun things, and I love to see her grow and progress!!

Here are some notable things about Ellie at 3 months:
  • She loves to eat her hands still, and sometimes she'll even try to suck on her binky AND her fingers. It's pretty hilarious to watch.
  • She's gotten to the point where she actually likes tummy time and can really lift her head and upper body.
  • She still really loves bath time and is learning that if she kicks her legs, water goes all over.
  • She LOVES to talk to us and it's almost like she's having a conversation with us.
  • She doesn't like the sound of the vacuum. It scares her and makes her cry a lot.
  • She is getting to the point where she likes to sit in the swing, but it's still not her favorite.
  • She doesn't like to be left in a room alone for more than 5 seconds, and she'll let you know it, too!
  • She is still wearing 0-3 clothes and size 1-2 diapers.
  • She weighs about 12 lbs 2 oz and is 23 ish inches long.
  • She laughed for the first time on April 1st right before I left for work, and it gave me something happy to think about as I had to leave her with her sitter for the afternoon.
  • She rolled over for the first time while we were getting her 3 month pictures taken, and she was VERY confused as to what had happened.
  • She is SUCH a mommy's girl, and is always SO happy when I get home from work, and almost always demands that I nurse her the second I get home, regardless of when she ate last.
  • She still loves to snuggle and falls asleep easily in our arms when she's tired.
  • She doesn't like to lie down on anyone's lap, and if she has a hold of your hands, she tries to pull herself into a sitting position. She also REALLY likes to stand and bounce.
  • When she's fussy in the car, all I have to do is start singing, and she'll instantly calm down and sleep.
I am sad to report that the lovely nights are gone, and we're back to the early days when Ellie didn't sleep through the night. She was being such a perfect little girl until just after the 3 month mark. She decided that she doesn't want to sleep through the night anymore, and that made me very very sad. Instead, she thinks that waking up every 2-3 hours during the night is much better, and fun! I kind of HATE how she's such a happy little girl at 3 a.m. and wants nothing more but to smile and coo at me. But at the same time, it's so hard to be mad that you're awake when you get to witness such sweetness from her. I guess I should have known that she wouldn't sleep through the night forever! I am thankful, however that she let me sleep all night for so long!

Ellie's such a cutie pie and we love to have her around! Funny thing about Ellie as of late...she has taken to mimicking us pretty well, and it is pretty awesome. About 3 weeks ago I started making faces at her including making noise while poking my tongue in and out of my mouth, well about 1 week ago, she discovered her tongue! She LOVES to stick her tongue out and thinks it's the funniest thing!

Exhibit A:
While getting her 3 month pictures taken, she stuck her little tongue out, and they caught it before she stuck it back in. I think it's the cutest thing ever, and she makes me laugh so much with the faces she pulls!

I'm so thankful to have this little sweet pea in my life and I love her SO so much! I honestly don't know what I'd do without her! She's the best and David and I can't imagine not having her in our lives.
