Cloth diapering adventure

So, we've made it through 3 days of using cloth diapers 85% of the time. I haven't used them yet for naps, or night time, but I am going to use them today for Ellie's afternoon nap with a doubler.

Warning, poo talk ahead...but hey, this IS a post about diapers!

So far, so good! We did have an uh-oh moment when Ellie had pooped in a disposable and I figured she was done, so I had David put her in a cloth diaper without a liner (the liner is something that sits in between the baby and the diaper and catches solid messes, and you just take it out of the diaper and flush it) BUUUUT she decided she wasn't done and we had a big mess on our hands, since we didn't yet have a diaper sprayer. Whoa, that was a long sentence. Anywho, after finding a tutorial for a DIY sprayer, we headed off to Home Depot, got the parts and we were all set.

Turns out, using a diaper sprayer isn't as easy as it seems. At least not when you're dealing with peanut butter poop. uggh. Anyway, problem solved, we got over it and we're still learning. The diapers washed up BEAUTIFULLY, and have absolutely NO stink to them! I was worried that they would, since you have to use a detergent with no fragrance, additives, etc. But, no fear, they are perfect.

I am in LOVE with the diapers we've chosen. I only have 6 right now, because I wasn't 100% sure that I really wanted to do it, but after 3 days I promise you that I'm not looking back! Ellie really doesn't seem to notice a difference in the diapers, and they really aren't super bulky, so her clothes all fit her just fine.

We're using the bumGenius 4.0 One-Size diaper with snaps. I got them on sale with their buy 5 get 1 free, so that's a bonus! They fit incredibly well, have TONS of adjustability (it's a word, I promise :P ) and we haven't had a single leak yet! We even left her in one for 3-4 hours, ish? With cloth diapers, they suggest you change your baby more often, since they aren't filled with chemicals and a such to hold a gazillion ounces of wetness.

Here are some pictures of what they look like:

I was a total non-believer before, and I really don't know why I didn't try these earlier! Oh well. I can know that I will save my money from here on out! They are super easy, not any grosser than disposables, and they save TONS of money!

Say what you will about cloth diapering, but I guarantee that if you tried the BG 4.0, you wouldn't be unhappy!

*Good water pressure
*Cheap milk
*Cafe Rio
*Bountiful Baskets & bread
*Dryness meaning both the lack of humidity and less rain. It's too rainy here haha
*Mountains

Twins are normal in my family...

So, to tell you the truth, I wasn't TOO shocked to find out that we were having twins. Why is this, you ask? Well because there is a CRAZY LARGE amount of twins in my family. It's pretty much freakish, and not normal.

In my immediate family alone, there are 3 sets of twins. My dad is a twin, I have twin brothers, and one of my twin brothers has twin sons. If I branch out to cousins, I have one set of twin cousins (also boys) on my dad's side. I have a cousin who has twins, but they break the trend because they aren't the same gender! Shocking!

My twin cousins, Kirk & Karl, my dad Brent & twin Bruce, my brothers Jason & Jared, and Jared's twins Treven & Tracen.

My Great Grandpa Timothy had twins that died in infancy and they were a boy and girl. Then I have a distant cousin who had twins that also died in infancy. My Grandma Timothy had boy twin cousins.

On my Grandpa Holman's side (my mom's) there were boy twins. On my Grandma Holman's side, there are twin boys, and some identical twin girls, and the list just goes ON AND ON!!!! That's just MY side of the family. Needless to

On David's side of the family, his sister had twin boys, and he has twin uncles. I don't know of more than that, but I'm sure there are many more.

Pretty much we were destined to have twins since my sister didn't end up with them.

Anyway, we're hoping we break the overwhelming constant twin boy trend and have twin girls, or one of each! Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Number 2 just became numbers 2 AND 3!

WOW!

Can I just say that a MILLION times over?! Yesterday, I went in for my first prenatal appointment at 11 weeks 6 days. I had waited to see a doctor until after we moved since we were hoping to get on insurance before I had to go. Sadly, that didn't happen, so after paying almost $1000 so far for just blood work and one ultrasound (with two babies inside, which apparently costs twice as much ha ha!), I'm glad I won't have to go back in until I've got insurance! AH!

I was sitting at home, and it was many hours before my appointment/ultrasound and I had a weird feeling that I was maybe going to have twins. I text my mom and she thought I was being silly. I started looking up things about when you're pregnant with twins and I couldn't decide if I really was. I mean, yeah my belly is bigger than last time around, but it's not huge, so I just attributed that to it being a 2nd pregnancy.

So we got to the appointment and they took us to ultrasound first. When the ultrasound tech first started the ultrasound, I thought I saw a flash of two babies, then I just was like, no. My eyes are playing tricks on me since I was freaking out about it earlier, and she just focused on one, well then one became two...and then I couldn't stop laughing. I was in TOTAL SHOCK!!! David was in shock, too. I'm glad he was able to be there with me, because I don't know what I would have done if I was alone! I probably would have cried and then called him in a panic! HAH!

So, that was TOTALLY unexpected. I am excited and nervous and still in shock and I can't believe that we will have not one but TWO little babies come November-ish! Each baby is in its own sac, which is what they like to see with twins, so that was good news! However, this doesn't mean they won't be identical. And they said it's extremely hard to tell if they are identical. So, who knows! They're both around the same size, which is also a very good thing!

This pregnancy hasn't been super different than my first, which I think is why I was so shocked to find out about two babies, not one! I think the biggest differences is that 1) I was feeling morning sickness at 5 weeks! With Ellie, I didn't feel sick until about 8 weeks or so (I think) 2) I am constantly battling evil break outs. I did break out with Ellie, but not near as bad! Another difference is how I'm already sleeping horribly. I think I'd do fine if Ellie was sleeping well, but she's getting over being sick, and I'm kind of suspecting that she may have a UTI. We will see what happens for the rest of today before I decide to take her in.

Anyway, we are excited, and it's going to be a crazy adventure!

Pictures and updates

So I finally got around to plugging my camera in to my computer so I could get pictures off of it! It's about time! Some of them are from before my birthday in March! hah!

This is my best friend, Hillary. She and I ran a 5k that our stake put on. I suck at running, and didn't actually "run" the whole thing. Maybe next time?

David and I celebrated my birthday at Tucanos! Tasty!

We took our last trip to Roosevelt before leaving to TN for Easter weekend. It was a lot of fun and we had an Easter Egg Hunt for all the grand kids! They loved it!

Grandma & Grandpa wanted a picture with Ellie before we left!

Ellie decided to learn some calculus...

David graduated from BYU! WOOHOO! We celebrated California Pizza Kitchen style!

This is Ellie and Lexi. Lexi is Ellie's best little friend ever! She's only 3 months younger, and they love to do everything together!

Playing around our apartment for the last time while the movers pack us up!

Ellie stole the neighbor kid's tricycle and she wouldn't get off of it! Luckily, the other kids were all at school!

Just before leaving to TN, we stayed with my brother, Boyd and his family. This is Ellie playing in the little playroom with her cousin Scarlett.

Checking out the airport and the airplanes!

Ellie's first flight!

Only one of the fun adventures we've had in TN so far. We went and visited David's sister Alayna and her family and David's parents for a day. We all went to these fun fountains and Ellie had a blast...until she got knocked over and hit her little head on the concrete. OUCH! She was OK though and still had a pretty good day after that!

Fishy Face

This video was taken before we left Utah, and we were trying to teach Ellie how to make a fishy face. It's hilarious and we couldn't stop laughing at her!

Tennessee

Well, moving here has been a crazy adventure so far. We have been living in a one room suite in the Courtyard Marriott, and boy, is it old. Ellie has refused to sleep in the pack 'n play the hotel has, so she sleeps in bed with us, which I'm sure is going to bite us back when we move into our new place!

Speaking of our new place, we got a great townhouse. It's got 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, a 1 car garage, a big living area with hardwood floors, a good sized kitchen, a back deck, and a lot of storage space. I think it will be a great place for us! We got our keys today and went to clean the counters, and spray for bugs, since it's SOOOO buggy here! We're planning on spraying again one more time before we move in because I really REALLY hate bugs! ha ha!

We haven't been up to a whole lot here other than trying to figure out the city and where things are in relation to where we are. Roads are crazy here and I don't know if I will know how to get around on my own! So far we've found some great parks for Ellie to play at and for us to take her on walks in. We also took a little trip to visit David's aunt and uncle in Mars Hill, NC, and it was a lot of fun. Ellie really enjoyed running around to her heart's content and we loved relaxing and having a home cooked meal! Thanks again, Aunt Wendy!! We'll need to find more to do because a few days ago, we found out that David won't start work until May 14th, when we were expecting the 1st! Talk about a damper in our plans!

I am going crazy with not having much to do, so we can't wait for Monday to come!

Anyway, more updates, and some pictures to follow!
